Subject: Thumbs up for Accommodationswap

Hallo Mike

I think I did mention this previously. I am one of the members who accept
as many bookings as I have enquiries for, even in peak season, with the only
condition that I must have a room available when the enquiry is made. I
would never have been able to use all of my credits. However, I've been
making my points work for me. I deal with travel agencies a lot and in the
past I've always sent them a complimentary voucher for a weekend at Villa Le
View. Unfortunately the consultants cannot always afford to come to Durban.
I am now offering them a weekend close to where they are situated, thus
using Accommodation Swap points to book them for a weekend away. This way I
get back MUCH MORE in value than what I've "spent" by allowing swaps at my
facility.

I just want to say once again: Accommodation Swap is the best system I've
ever joined. I have holiday club points and at one stage we had normal time
share. We even had a house in Marloth Park that we used for family
holidays. NONE of them gave me better value for money than Accommodation
Swap.

Hi Mike,

I wish to place on record that we have only been members for just over a
year and a half and have had some lovely holidays in Cape Town, two
different places in The Drakensburg, 4 in Zululand and also the South Coast
of Natal - one of which, we've returned a second time. And, we've met some
really great owners/people who have actually stayed at our venue on the
Accommodation Swap system and the places at which we have stayed. Long may
Accommodation Swap last. Certainly performing an extremely good service to
accommodation owners.

I cannot wait to 'go on holiday once again'. Just waiting for our B & B
Locum to return from her overseas trip.

Kind regards

Dear all at AccommodationSwap,

A trip to Durban and back proved once again how helpful and worthwhile AccommodationSwap can be.

Thanks for the useful info received via email as well.

I really liked the stat presented on the website. I’m a stats man!!!!!!! Can I suggest that another column be added? One which tells how many members there were in the particular year. This would help to see, not only how successfully the system has grown, but also help to do some comparisons through the years.

Thanks again for a great opportunity.

Become members of Accommodation Swap ASAP! I have been a member for about 6 years now and have had "free" 3, 4 and 5 star accommodation across South Africa to the value of about R90 000 and have met many very friendly and interesting people in the industry. Accommodation Swap is well run and there are no catches I promise! It is a genuiune win/win situation for all - you fill empty beds during quiet times and stay at quality accommodation in return - at a minimal cost to join which includes some complimentary nights to get you going, and a very small annual subscription. What a pleasure!

Dear Mike thanks for a great positive and encouraging newsletter. I absolutely agree. With my 4 establishments we have, jeepers, I think round about 500 credits. Impossible to use them all ourselves- but sincerely enjoyed by family, reps and gifts to youngsters getting married and receiving 2 night stay presents from us as part of their honeymoon- birthday or anniversary gifts.

We always accept a swap if we have availability and maybe this is the reason we are always accepted in return. The massive benefit we enjoy by receiving paid bookings from referrals from fellow swappers is amazing. It's not just all about the actual swapping, there are other huge benefits to be had as well by being part of accommodation swap.

Thanks for a great website Mike and team.....to you and each and every establishment listed, let's work together with a positive attitude in 2015 and nourish and grow our "club" to the best accommodation website in the world!! Pamper your fellow swappers and you will gain from this in return. Long live accommodationswap.com!

Hi Mike,
My wife, Beverley & I took a 2 week break up to Jeffrey's Bay.
On our return we spent 2 nights at The Retreat at Groenfontein. What a lovely place. The hospitality is warm, the food is great and sharing a meal with the other guests was a social highlight. Many thanks to Marie & Grareth.
We also stayed at Zoutpan, near Albertinia.
We found the facilities clean, comfortable and was a perfect 2 night stop over to explore the Southern Cape Coast. Our thanks to Ilse & Engela.
Our final night was spent at Mountain Shadows in Paarl. We were the only guests and the owner, Misty was away in Johannesberg. The staff was not on duty on the Monday evening. No problem - Misty's parents, Gerald & Cathy Truter insisted on us joining them for a meal with them in their home.. How is that for hospitality?
A wonderful experience.

Subject: First time AS member touring through South Africa at no accommodation cost

Dear Mike and Accommodation Swap team

We were telling friends of our intended tour through South African in May and that was when Accommodation Swap was introduced to us by Linda and Eric Looser of Haus Sandrose. We did not feel very comfortable with the fact that we will receive a “freeby” and no matter how they explained it, we promptly declined the idea of joining AS. The idea however grew on my husband and we decided to give it a go. We still felt a little awkward and delayed to make bookings. Two weeks before our departure it was time to face the music and we made bookings. I did not expect that we would even get three nights, but it was still worth the fee that we had paid to join AS. In order to have a better chance of getting confirmations, I emailed two AS members in every town we intend to visit. We were overwhelmed at the response. Out of 24 guesthouses, only two were not able to assist.

So we arrived at Oppikoppi in Kroonstad, our first AS encounter. Minnie was so friendly and accommodating. She wiped away all my doubt. We had a lovely stay there. Oppikoppi was wonderful and we enjoyed the clean and comfortable rooms as well as the “Out of town” experience. It was so peaceful and calm.

Next place we visit was Three Brothers in Edenvale, Johannesburg. We were welcomed by Margaret and again experienced the most friendly welcome and lovely room. We did not swap any points for meals and arranged for breakfast the next morning. Great was our surprise when she did not want to be paid for the meals. We insisted, but she was adamant that she received a similar gesture from another AS member and wish to do the same. We gracefully accepted. What a wonderful experience after we expected something completely different. Three Brothers is a beautiful place and it was as if you are not even in a city.

Next stop was Nelspruit at Panorama Guest Farm and from the moment we set foot on that property, we received quality service and accommodation from Merle and Lauren. We loved the cottage and the surrounds and it is well worth a visit.

After that, we visit Villa Lange in Malelane – same story. Friendly service and beautiful rooms.

I can write a story about every other place we visited, but to make it short and sweet, I can assure you that every place we stayed, we were welcomed and the rooms was beautiful, clean and the quality was of the highest standard.

A big thank you to:

Villa le View – Bluff Durban – Stunning room and bathroom, great services and breath taking old furniture. Thanks Suzette for your friendliness and lots of tips we received from you.
Little Acres – Champainge Valley – Drakensberg – Belinda was such a graceful hostess and the cottage was stunning. Thanks for the weber. We enjoyed our braai in your beautiful garden in the shadow of the Drakensberg very much.

A1 Kanyston, Jeffreysbaai - Sharon – the most fully equipped place I’ve ever been in! A lovely house that can accommodate a big family and she offered it gracefully to the two of us! Beautiful, clean and comfortable with a lovely view over the beach.

Moontide Guest Lodge – Wilderness – Thanks Tim, your warm welcome inspired us and this place should be on every honeymoon couples list. This is such a romantic place.

Our last visit was at Mountain Shadows in the Paarl. Thanks Misty and family. You really have a piece of paradise as a home. I just wish we could have spent more time to enjoy all the wonderful activities that you offered us.

Blessings to you all and thanks for showing us the ropes of Accommodation Swap. We would love to welcome members and please do visit us!! We need to build up points again. We had such a wonderful time traveling through your beautiful country, but now we are points broke!

Thanks Mike, for the great idea of accommodation swap. It worked wonderfully! We hope to inspire other guesthouses in Namibia to join so that people can tour through Namibia as we did South Africa.

Hi Mike

Etienne and I decided on the spur of the moment to travel down to Cape Town to meet our new born niece. Within a few hours I managed to secure accommodation in Stormsriver, Knysna, Albertinia, on a farm between Barrydale and Montegue – a wonderful trip, meeting the owners of accommodation swap venues and enjoying our most beautiful country! We always fly to Cape Town and decided that travelling has some benefits – can load a few boxes of wine!

Each and every swap establishment made us feel special and welcome. Many thanks Accommodation Swap!

Scrumptous breakfast

The most personal attention and help that we really couldn’t imagine

we were in Bloemfontein for a function, Dorothy came in specially for us at 20h00 the evening, helped us to put all our cold products in a fridge, and helped us through the whole function that was hosted at the Summerwood estate for two full days.· Not only did we receive exceptional hospitality but very special personal attention.

Dear Mike and Accommodation Swap Team
We can certainly echo the sentiments of Suenette and Derick !
We are fairly "newcomers" to the Accommodation Swap scene and have only accommodated one swap so far. However as we were about to embark on a 2 week holiday for the first time in 2 years, we decided to "try out" our new Swap wings !!
After attending a seminar in Johannesburg and on our way to the Drakensberg, we decided to spend a night at "The Village Guesthouse" in Henley on Klip.Coming from Namibia, one does not hear much about Henley on Klip and we had no idea what to expect !!Arriving early evening, we were greeted warmly by Joan who gave us a choice of rooms, one as lovely as the next.
Our room, as the others, was tastefully done and we slept most comfortably. The breakfast the next morning was stunning and the service impeccable !Yes, we certainly felt treated and special.
Thank you so much to all of you for making it possible for all of us to utilize a very brilliant system and for enabling us to stay at and meet wonderful people whom we would never have otherwise met.
It is a pity there are always grumps and grouches but they are usually in the minority and somehow always seem to be "weeded" out eventually.
Keep up the good work ! May your Christmas be filled with blessings and your New year brimming with prosperity.

Kindest Regards from the sunny and beautiful Namib Desert.

Dear Members of the Accommodation swap, I have just returned from a wonderful camping trip to Namibia. Whilst it was a camping holiday, we had relief from the tedious erecting of tents etc. at two wonderful venues on an accommodation swap basis.

Firstly, on our way up, we stayed at the White House just after we crossed the border and were wonderfully received by our hosts, Dolf and Kinne who supplied us with wonderful home made rusks etc. It was an ideal stop over on our way to Windhoek. We, along with my brother and his wife all stayed there again on our return journey and had a very festive evening braaing and playing guitar along with other guests who were also staying there. The warm welcome and the service we got can be highly reccommended to anybody visiting Namibia.

After about two weeks of tenting it, we arrived at Luderitz Bay and were hosted here by Linda and Erich Looser at the Haus Sandrose. It was wonderful accommodation really centrally located and Linda was extremely helpful when it came to finding out what to do and where to eat etc. She exuded warmth and kind hospitality and we really enjoyed our two nights there. Althought the high winds and weather was the worst of our trip, we had a wonderful afternoon at the Oyster factory, enjoying fresh oysters and good wine after we had visited some of the other attractions we had wanted to see.

Thank you to accommodation swap and the wonderful people involved for a great hassle free and wonderful way to travel. Keep up the great work - the accommodatin swap team and all its members.

Warm regards

We have just joined Accomm Swap, and its one of the best business decisions we ever made!! The networking possibilities are great, the choice and calibre of establishments are awesome, the hosts are invariably friendly and welcoming . . . . and the concept is just so simple and easy to use. We have just had a 2 week break in Saldanah/Langebaan - mostly boating on the lagoon and living aboard, but we did also stay at 5 wonderful Accom Swap places en route from Port Alfred to Western Cape and back again and it was the most wonderful holiday. Each place so different in character, but each so stunning in its own unique way!!! So thank you so much to Treehouse Forest Lodge nr Plett, Pakhuys mountain getaway nr Clanwilliam, 1881 Shiraz Wine Estate in Riebek Casteel, Mymering nr Ladismith, and Aestas B+B in Knysna . . . . . it was lovely to meet you all and stay in your amazing places. You are now a member of the Facebook Group for Accommodation Swap as well as belonging to the bartering group (as long as your fees are paid up) When you join Accommodation Swap Mike does not automatically make you a member of the Facebook Page. I often invite people who have a guest house and are friends with me to the Accommodation Swap Facebook page, because then they understand what an amazing networking oportunity this is ; I have also often told people about Accommodation Swap and then they think it is some 'fly-by-night' scheme that could not possibly work as it just sounds too good to be true! My own brother (Shiraz in Riebeeck Kasteel) was one of those - I went to visit him last weekend and he gave me a huge hug of thanks for talking him into this!

Dear Bruce and Alison

I am safely home, and really must tell you of the unbelievable experience that started when I turned off at Rooiberg into Tierthoek Cottages

Firstly, I had to stop for a train at the crossing, this just does not happen anymore.

Then, driving further, the sun was setting, the mountains were there in front of me, the autumn leaves of the fruit trees and vines. It was a magical experience!

Then, stopping at Pepper Tree, again the setting... opening the door… walking in… seeing how unbelievable everything was! EK WAS STIL – this is exactly where I wanted to be, and got a lot more than what I expected! No wonder that my Canadian in-laws, when they stayed there some time ago, were in awe, and could not stop talking about their lovely stay! In fact, people invited them somewhere and they simply declined, and said that they’re not going anywhere! If anybody wanted to see them, they would have to come to them!

Well done, and I shall surely send the European tourists there!

Hope you have a wonderful “off” week!

Hi Mr & Mrs Pistorius

As Simon mentioned to you, we belong to a great scheme for owners of accommodation establishments called Accommodation Swap, run by Mike Kieser - which, in essence, costs accommodation owners a nominal joining fee and annual subscription, and in exchange you get an initial number of nights' accommodation at any establishment that belongs to the scheme, and the opportunity to earn points when you host fellow Members. You are also able to buy in a certain number of top up points annually which is a good option too. Accommodation Swap works very well for us as we fill up our quiet times and in return we have had some lovely getaways in 4 and 5 star establishments (which is the level at which we are comfortable, as we suspect you will be) – as well as being accommodated for almost 2 weeks close to Panorama Clinic when Simon was hospitalised. And I must say we NEVER made the effort to go away prior to joining Accommodation Swap!We have met some really lovely people and have our regulars as well as being regulars ourselves at certain places – and we swap info and recommendations on the places that we visit also.

Dear Mike I need to send a note on Macfarlanes Farm Stay with Leon and Elsa Strachan from MacFarlanes in Harrismith. We spent a awesome weekend with them in the cottage next to the lake. On Saturday Leon(who wrote a couple of books) and is an expert on the History in and around Harrismith took us on a trip that took all day, on the Spioenkop Battlefield route, in and around Harrismith. He is an excellent tour guide, the way he led us through every detail and explained every incident and monument on the ongoing struggle, that went on for days and ended on 24th Jan 1900 This was absolutely fantastic you could almost feel the heat see the blood and feel the pain that the soldiers suffered. Afterwards they treated us to a real boere picnic on the top of spioenkop! Leon is very passionate about history and I could not believe all the detail he shared with the group. We then invited Leon&Elsa to watch the rugby with us and enjoy dinner. Great hosts and I would recommend their Establishment for every member in the group who enjoys a cottage stay next to a lake and a place of tranquillity.....with no cell reception!! so you can rest totally, donít worry the birds wake you up, all beds have electric blankets and a great fireplace to spend the evenings playing games or cards or enjoy the stories that he has published in a book describing all the interesting characters in Harrismith! Hallo Bob and Heather

I was looking for accommodation in Gauteng recently when I stumbled across a site called ACCOMMODATION SWOP. It is basically a club you join and by allowing other B & B owners from all over the world to stay at your establishment you earn points. They have been running for almost seven years in SA and is a trusted and proven commodity. They are now expanding to the overseas market too. You use your points to stay at any facility world wide. At first I was a little skeptical but last week I used my points for the first time. What a pleasure it turned out to be. I stayed at the Valverde Hotel in Muldersdrift and also at the Cosy Inn B & B in Edenvale. The total cost to me 3 points. I have been in contact with a couple of the other members and they all feel the same. A fantastic concept and the best of all is that it really works. It is very easy to join and the subscription fee is minimal. It is not reciprocal, so you don’t have to have the people you stayed with, staying with you. I am not sure if you are able to circulate this amongst the other members of the NAA but I definitely feel it will be beneficial to the members. Below the website if you are interested to read more.

Need a break ?- Join Accommodation Swap
I have been a member of accommodation swap for about 4 years and have found it a great way to get-away and meet wonderful people in the same industry as we are. When the club first started there were only a few 3 star guesthouses and B&B's on the site. The club has grown and there are now 170 options to choose from ranging from 3 star to 5 star establishments.

I have done many swaps throughout the country as my boys play in badminton tournaments all over the country every 2nd or 3rd weekend. Belonging to this club has saved me a fortune in accommodation costs. Dennis and I spent last weekend in Franschoek at the L'emitage Chateau and Villas a 5 star establishment which was absolutely wonderful. 2 nights at this establishment would have cost us R6000.00 if we had not used our swap points.

Dear Mike

Tks for the newsletter, much appreciated. As you know, I am a “new” member, Michelle from MountainManor suggested I join, she stayed here for over a week herself. While I am not travelling THAT much within RSA, I thought for less than R400, what the heck.

I am now going to the Cape for a few days and am stunned at how accommodating both places I contacted were. I booked one night at TOVERBERG, got confirmation, cancelled a few days later due to 1time offering very cheap flights to Cape Town, no point in driving there. I then booked one night at Joie de Vivre in Paarl, also got a nice confirmation, changed that yesterday to two nights, again no problem (yes, I know August is probably “out of season”).

To be frank with you, I did not expect this! Not that I thought that the system was a “con” but this is great. As I am very unlikely to travel during high season (certainly not in RSA, have guests then myself), I doubt I will ever have problems in finding accommodation. Next week, I have another guest staying here under the system (from North Crest Manor, Durban).

Kind regards, Walter

Dear Mike

Thank you, I look forward to reaping the benefits of belonging to the site. Already I have had an enquiry for accommodation via the site but not as a swap; a direct booking for a family member. So, belonging to the site has an added benefit! I’ve also had a welcome email from one of the members so already feel as if I am part of a family. I wish you every success in this venture.

Kind regards Margaret

Hi There
Back in PE after our trip to Hermanus via Knyna and wanted to send you the info on the stunning concept 'accommodation swap', I mentioned to you while handing out my brochures in Leisure Isle.
Please take a moment to read all about it and i can truly say it is absolutely worth it. We became members in June and could immediately utilize the points that were allocated and had a fabulous stay at all the B&B's along the way to Hermanus!
You can contact Mike directly should you require any further info
Lets keep in touch!

Hi Mike,
We're back after a great time in Cape Town! I just want to thank you for a really brilliant system - it worked like a dream!!
The hosts and staff at the Southern Right Hotel were charming and very welcoming - the hotel has a wonderful 'olde worlde' atmosphere with gleaming oregon floors, gorgeous rooms and stunning views across the ocean. I would highly reccommend the hotel to other members - they really deserve to do well!

Thanks again, Mike
Warm Regards

As part of the Beach House and Beachfront Accommodation, Les had positive comments to make regarding his stay at the respective B & B's. Onrus River has very pleasant accommodation, and Les would particularly like to laud the professionalism of Welgelegen's operation.

Perhaps there can be a "guestbook" type of comment page included on your website for comments such as these, to the advantage of the respective participants.(Accomswap insert: Good suggestion Wayne - here it is! )

Our first experience with AccommodationSwap has really been delightful, and we look forward to as much good relationship as shown to us by yourself, and our fellow B & B's.

Regards,Wayne Lourens (Beach House - Umhlanga - Natal)

Mike, I know a winner when it crosses my path. This scheme is a winner. I will gladly give you feedback when I return in 4 weeks. Because I know what we offer at Dolphin Dunes, I am willing to make use of others as I will really offer them something special if they are willing to make use of us. Regards, Izak

Hi Mike,
I don't know if you have noticed this yet but not many people leap into a new thing. They wait to see how much it progresses and if it stays etc before they commit themselves (unlike me) However, it means just keep plugging away. This will eventually be the name for Accommodation Swap amongst B&B's hopefully world wide. I will make some sort of presentation tomorrow if I can
Cheers, Kerry

Dear Mike & the accommodation swap team
Thank you for all your correspondence & effort regarding the accommodation swap concept. From the start we thought it was a brilliant idea & would like to congratulate you for not only having it but also for putting it into practice. Everyone is able to have great ideas, but it takes energy & guts to take the plunge & stick with it (as we all, as entrepreneurs know, I suppose!). Kind regards

I think this Accomodation Swap is a wonderful idea & I look forward both to using it myself & also of course to hosting other "swoppers" here - it should all be good fun - travelling a bit & visiting other areas & making friends with others in the same business. Look forward to hearing from you,Regards,

Marguerite.
